I have often thought about this seemingly conflict in some people’s lives. In fact I never really observed this until I was in a relationship in which my girlfriend at the time posed this issue in our conversations. What is this issue? For those that walk the spiritual path it is trying to live in both worlds. What are those? To live in the physical, as well the spiritual realm at the same time. In fact for many that are really connecting with the spiritual path and living it, it is difficult. From my observations and personal experience I see this more often than not. Whether it is fundamental religion or what some call New Age spirituality. There are some that take their faith and whatever they are passionate about to the extreme. Where they are talking and doing nothing but spiritual work. If you ever came across or know someone like this, have you ever tried to have a conversation with them that was worldly and about everyday mundane issues? It seems to throw them off and they may seem to have a difficult time trying to converse with you and staying to the subject without finding some way to steer the conversation to the spiritual side, so that there comfort zone is eased. I am not saying that to be passionate about your beliefs is wrong; however I encourage that passion to be nurtured. There are some pitfalls I feel and have seen where sometimes that whatever the type of relationship is involved, can be strained. Because there is I feel a time for conversations on those mundane levels as well as the spiritual level. Some individuals are just not ready for those highly passionate spiritual conversations and will shut themselves off from ever reaching such levels because they may feel pushed or overwhelmed into a dogma, ideology, faith or belief system. I feel these individuals have to do their own due diligence, seeking and asking of questions on their own and at the right time. It is up to us, the spiritual teachers to know when to bring into any conversation spirituality and also know when we do, to stop. For some as I have observed, are so caught up in the moment they fail to realize another’s feelings, emotions and limits. For the Spiritual teacher to truly be that service and to share their view, opinions and lessons must also know and read each person they are conversing with and be sensitive to the vibrations that is generated. Otherwise as I said before, it can be strained and that relationship on any level can be severed or cause conflicts. No one wants this. It is a good practice to know the physical world and be a part of it to some point to truly be a genuine teacher. It is important to really hear others and understand others on the level they come into contact with for the spiritual guidance they may be seeking or just a conversation in which can later lead to a healing or understanding of their own spiritual journey. They then will feel warmth, compassion and an overall love, that they are being understood. Many times spiritual teachers and guides can’t see past their own selves to know if this is happening. If you are a spiritual teacher, leader, guide or messenger, I encourage you to just be aware of this and stop within to hear yourself speaking. Take moments to tap into another’s energy field to feel with your heart if this is what they are truly ready to hear or learn. It is not always about oneself and living on a high and mighty pedestal that you are above or greater than, if you are that kind of spiritual being. It really is good to just be in the human moment at times and enjoy life on that other level and then find those moments where you can be on that spiritual level to be grateful, of service and of compassion. It really can be wound up into one ball and unraveled without a mess or knots to stop the flow. Have fun and others will in turn have fun with you! There is a phrase that has been going around, and it is not in the Bible or any scriptures: “we are to be in the world, but not of the world.” There are many interpretations. I feel this is appropriate here. One can be in the world, trying to be understanding of the happenings, the events and so forth. Engaged if one feels inclined to. But on that other level, to not take any physical worldly ideas, practices or even what we may hear, see and experience and let it rule our thoughts so much we edge out our spiritual nature. There is always a compromise and what level of that is up to one’s own self. So, when I say it is good to live both worlds, it is with an understanding that one does not have to give into it, but to know it so one can converse and be of a better understanding to continue one’s own spiritual quest and service to others. My friend, this is a very touchy and complicated subject indeed. But nevertheless it is something that I felt had to be posted. I could spend endless hours on this, but I wanted to get the basics shared. Thank you and know you are right where you are this moment at the right time, doing and being the best in you. Because you are God/Spirit in action!
Peace and Abundant Blessings always.
